The North East is short of chargers
The region has fewer public chargers per head than the UK average. The Department for Transport counts 150.2 public EV chargers per 100,000 people in the North East, against a UK average of 174.9 (DfT).
That gap is an opening for places where people already park for hours. Hotels, wedding venues, holiday parks, pubs and workplaces can fill it, and earn from it.
Where we work
We start from Park Court on Team Valley, beside the A1, and work outward. Each area page covers the local roads, the sites that suit charging, and anything specific about planning or the grid there.
- Newcastle: city-centre hotels, the Quayside, Gosforth, Jesmond and the airport
- Gateshead: our home patch, with Team Valley, the MetroCentre and Gateshead Quays
- Sunderland: the seafront, the A19 and Houghton-le-Spring
- County Durham: the cathedral city, Bishop Auckland and country-house venues
- Teesside: Middlesbrough, Stockton, Darlington, Hartlepool and contractor stays
- Northumberland: the coast, Hadrian's Wall, Kielder and rural holiday sites
One team and one network operator
Northern Powergrid runs the local grid across the whole patch, so the connection rules are the same wherever your site is. We handle that paperwork for you.
The same team surveys, installs and then runs the chargers. That covers payments, remote monitoring, maintenance and driver support.
