The hotel
The Highfield is a three-star, family-run hotel at 101 Durham Road, East Rainton, near Houghton-le-Spring, with a bar and a Thai restaurant. It sits just off the A690 between Durham and Sunderland. That mix of overnight guests, diners and passing trade is the kind of site where a charger earns its place: cars are parked for hours, and drivers are choosing where to stop.
What we installed
- A Victus 22kW dual floor-standing pedestal with two Type 2 outputs, so two cars charge at once
- Positioned at the edge of the car park on two dedicated bays, on a new concrete base
- Connected to our back office for payments, monitoring and remote support
- Listed on Zapmap so drivers can find it before they arrive
What has changed
Since the charger went in, the hotel has seen more bookings and more guests using the bar and restaurant. Guests with electric cars can charge overnight while they stay, and drivers who find the charger on Zapmap can stop for a meal while they charge.
